Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

If you do not see your question here, please reach out directly — we are happy to discuss any matter.

What is a Pension Entitlement Review?
It is a careful examination of your pension or EPF/KWSP records, contribution statements, and any supporting documents. We look at what you are entitled to under current regulations, identify any discrepancies or missing paperwork, and prepare a written summary in plain language so you can decide on next steps with a clear picture.
How do I know if I have a pension dispute?
Common signs include receiving a lower pension amount than you expected, being told your application was rejected or deferred without a satisfactory explanation, or noticing discrepancies between your contribution records and the payments you are receiving. If any of these apply, it is worth speaking with us — even informally — before taking any formal steps.
What documents should I prepare before my first consultation?
It is helpful to bring your MyKad or identification, any EPF/KWSP statements you have, pension award letters or correspondence from the relevant government department, and your employment history if it relates to the matter. If you are missing documents, that is fine — part of what we do is help identify what is needed and how to obtain it.
How long does a pension matter typically take to resolve?
Timelines vary considerably depending on the nature of the matter and the responsiveness of the relevant authorities. A straightforward entitlement review typically takes two to four weeks. Disputes involving formal appeals with government agencies can take several months. We keep you informed at each stage so there are no unexpected silences.
Are your fees fixed, or will additional charges arise?
The fees listed for each service are our standard engagement fees. Before any work begins, we confirm the fee in writing and explain exactly what it covers. If your matter develops in a direction that requires additional work outside the original scope, we discuss this with you first — you are never presented with a charge you did not agree to in advance.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. All communications and documents shared with us are protected under solicitor-client privilege, which is a fundamental principle of Malaysian legal practice. Your personal information and the details of your matter are not disclosed to third parties except where necessary to advance your case or as required by law.
Can I engage Naungan Law if I live outside Kuala Lumpur?
Yes. Many of our clients are based in other parts of Malaysia, and we regularly conduct consultations and manage correspondence remotely. Documents can be submitted electronically or by post. A visit to our Kuala Lumpur office is useful but not always necessary, and we will discuss the most practical approach at the outset.
